Meet Monica Sanchez
Workforce Challenge:
Monica Sanchez, a single parent with limited work experience and a language barrier, was referred to the TSE program. She was placed in a 10-month work experience program at the Public Defenders/Torrance office.
Workforce Solution:
While in the program Ms. Sanchez had many challenges and through the pandemic, she managed to make it work regardless. She demonstrated exceptional work ethic, leading to an extension of her program at the Public Defender’s office, this allowed Ms. Sanchez to apply for a full-time permanent position within their department. While working and tending to her son she worked hand in hand with her TSE Job Developer, who assisted her in updating her resume and would work with her on her interviewing skills.
Outcome and Benefits:
Ms. Sanchez was sent to interviews and multiple hiring events. Her dedication led to a full-time position with the Los Angeles Public Defenders office, showcasing her resilience and determination.
Monica Sanchez is resilient and is now in a better place thanks to the opportunities granted by the TSE program.
