Biography
Tony McKinley has been with SBWIB YouthBuild for about three months. Before joining SBWIB YB, he spent about 7 – 8 years working for academic programs within the Community College and Cal State system, and about two years with California Mentor Network, which supports individuals with mental and physical disabilities.
He is an alumnus of El Camino College, Cal State University Dominguez Hills, and Grand Canyon University, where he earned an Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Master's Degree in Public Administration. He is currently working on his doctoral degree in Organizational Leadership with an emphasis in Organizational Development. Tony has about ten years of experience supporting a range of populations (foster youth, homeless, disabled, etc.), so he is excited to share his experience with all SBWIB YB youth and the organization. He looks forward to supporting our program's young adults to reach their goals.
He is inspired by individuals who come from nothing and push themselves to become something, letting nothing and no one stop them from reaching their goals, and believing they are more than what they are told they are. Finally, he is motivated by his own personal and spiritual beliefs to support those in need, no matter their ethnicity or gender, or what they have done in their past because no one is perfect, and we have all made mistakes.
